SK Chairman Chey Tae-won expresses condolences over death of former President Roh Tae-woo

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has expressed over death of former President Roh Tae-woo on the 26th. Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry is SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, a former President Roh’s son-in-law.

The KCCI announced in a statement, saying, “We express our deep condolences on the passing of former President Roh Tae-woo.”

“The former President Roh expanded Korea’s diplomatic relations and improved status of country by hosting 1988 Summer Olympics,” the KCC said. “Also, he contributed to country by establishing Incheon international airport and Gyeongbu high speed railway.”

The KCC added, “We express our deepest sympathies to his family.”

Chairman Chey, the chairman of the KCCI and the son-in-law of the deceased, will visit the funeral at Seoul National University Hospital on the 27th and leave for a business trip to the U.S.

Chairman Chey married director Roh So-young of the Art Center Nabi, the daughter of former President Roh, in 1988, and had two daughters and one son.

Chairman Chey and director Roh are currently undergoing divorce proceedings, but they are still a married couple in legal. Chairman Chey's eldest daughter, Yoon-jeong, his second daughter Min-jeong, and his eldest son, In-geun, will participate in the funeral of his maternal grandfather, former President Roh.

Former President Roh served as the 13th president of the Republic of Korea, and died while being treated for an illness at 88 at Seoul National University Hospital.
